Where the Manō Swim

About

Hawai‘i, 1893.

Malie has always been taught to respect the manō, the sharks that guard her family’s waters. When one nearly takes her life, she is saved by a young Hawaiian fisherman who asks her to forgive the creature rather than fear it.

As affection grows between them, unrest spreads across the islands. Foreign businessmen conspire against the Crown, armed men gather in Honolulu, and Hawai‘i’s independence hangs by a thread.

With her homeland slipping toward violence, Malie must cross a kingdom in turmoil to reach the man she loves before both are lost forever.

Where the Manō Swim is a story of love, sacrifice, and a nation fighting to remain its own.
